Dusty the tuxedo kitten is safe and sound after she got stuck in a Wolverhampton, U.K. garbage can on Jan. 6 thanks to a well-executed tricky rescue mission.
She was looking for food in the garbage, but the bin started to move as it was going to be emptied, so she panicked and got her tiny head stuck in a drainage hole at the base of the can. A passer-by noticed the little 5-week-old stray kitten's head poking out of the base of the garbage can and called the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA), reported White Wolfpack.
Steve Morrall of the RSPCA arrived on the scene and realized that the kitten was stuck so tight that they'd need the help of firefighters to get her out. The firefighters arrived quickly and managed to delicately get the little cat out of the hole using a plastic funnel-like collar and lubricant, according to BBC News.
The newly-christened Dusty was taken to an RSCPA center to be spayed and will then go to a shelter to find a new home. Her distressing bin incident caused her no injuries or lasting harm, and she is back to her cuddly, vocal and lively self, said the RSPCA, reported LoveMeow.
