After almost a year of staying out of the spotlight, Rob Kardashian had a very sudden and shocking health scare in December when he was rushed to the hospital. When the doctors diagnosed him with diabetes and told him he needed to lose weight, it was a major wake up call for the 28-year-old reality star. His mom, Kris Jenner, has now given an update on his health and how he's been doing since the hospitalization.
While at an "Architects of Change: The Conversation Series" event on Thursday night, Jenner told Maria Shriver all about her son's recent diagnosis.
"He had a year where he kind of wanted to chill. He hasn't been feeling well, we didn't know why. He was just diagnosed with diabetes, so we're taking care of that. But he's always around. I see Rob every day," Kris said, according to E! News. "I think Rob enjoys all the family stuff we do. He has his business, his sock line and his stuff. But I think it was just the perfect time for him to take like a little hiatus. We said, 'Just get well. Feel better.' He was depressed and just wasn't feeling good and didn't know why."
It's been a while since we've seen Rob on his family's hit reality show "Keeping Up With The Kardashians," but Jenner explained that the idea of stopping the show never came to mind because they see him all the time, even though he prefers to not be on the show.
"He wants to still come back and shoot the show, he just wants to feel good," she explained. "It's not that he doesn't want to be on the show, it's just he wasn't feeling good."
Shortly after his hospital scare, his sister Khloé, who has recently been on her own fitness journey and has lost about 40 pounds, revealed that she's trying to help Rob do the same thing.
"I told Rob a while back: the best form of revenge is a good body," she wrote on her website earlier this month. "It's a little silly but true. There is literally no downfall to working out your blues in the gym! You'll feel better, and the by-product will be a fierce bod that's bound to make your ex do a double take."
Khloé has even admitted that the whole thing was a huge wake-up call for Rob and that he's been working hard a getting his life back in order since.
"He got out before the New Year, so I was like, 'OK let's leave all that stuff then,'" she said on "Good Morning America" on Wednesday. "Listen, you found out what the stuff is. Let's tackle it head on...He's taking it seriously. We're only 13 days into the New Year, but that's good enough for me."
