‘That Metal Show’ Canceled By VH1 Classic

Eddie Trunk announced earlier today on his website that VH1 Classic will no longer produce new episodes of “That Metal Show,” the long-running program he co-hosted with comedians Don Jamieson and Jim Florentine. The series - which featured the latest information and interviews with hard rock and heavy metal artists from yesterday and today - began in 2008 and aired 127 episodes. The show’s last episode was May 9, 2015.

“It has been an incredible run,” said a statement from Trunk, Jamieson and Florentine regarding the cancellation. “The global response to ‘TMS’ has been simply amazing, and we will be eternally grateful for the support from the rock and metal fans that have showed us so much love.”

The statement went on to say that the trio was given “the keys to the show” from VH1 Classic and “are currently searching for a new home.”

After the announcement, Trunk further discussed the show’s cancellation on Periscope. “It’s been an amazing ride doing this show for you guys [and] doing it with Don and Jim, two of my best friends,” he said. “We’ve had such a great time.”

He went on to talk about how he’s been a part of the VH1 Classic family since 2002 and that there were “no sour grapes” with the network.

“There’s been a ton of changes at the network,” continued Trunk. “One of the things that happened behind the scenes with ‘That Metal Show’ ending is also a lot of the executives that were a part of it and really instrumental in keeping it on the air are, unfortunately, no longer at the network either.”

Trunk will continue to shop “That Metal Show” around and make live appearances with Jamieson and Florentine.
