Iggy Azalea took to Twitter Friday to respond to the new Macklemore and Ryan Lewis track "White Privilege II," where the female rapper is called out in one of the song's verses, Vibe reported. Azalea responded to the diss, in which Macklemore accused Azalea of cultural appropriation.
On the track, Macklemore spits lines about the conflict he felt when he showed up to a Black Lives Matter rally in Seattle in November 2014 in protest of the shooting death of Missouri teen Michael Brown. He quickly made headlines as a celebrity among protesters.
"It's about Mike Brown," Macklemore told King5 at the time. "It's not about me."
In "White Privilege II," Macklemore goes on to discuss the idea of white privilege for the duration of the 8-minute long track. He calls out Azalea and pop star Miley Cyrus in the second verse with the lines, "You've exploited and stolen the music, the moment/ The magic, the passion, the fashion, you toy with/ The culture was never yours to make better/ You're Miley, you're Elvis, you're Iggy Azalea."
A fan tweeted at Azalea shortly after the song was released and asked the Aussie rapper if she heard the diss track.
"He shouldnt have spent the last 3 yrs having friendly convos and taking pictures together at events etc if those were his feelings," Azalea responded.
Another fan tweeted and told Azalea that she shouldn't "give a f--k" about Macklemore's diss, and she responded, "trust me, i dont. lol."
