Former Texas Longhorns quarterback and first-round NFL pick Vince Young was arrested this weekend in Austin on a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated, according to Katie Urbaszewski of the American-Statesman.
Young was reportedly booked into jail in Travis County at approximately 12:46 a.m. Monday. He has appeared before a Travis County judge. His bail is set at $2,000.
Young put together a phenomenal collegiate career with the Longhorns, culminating in a BCS National Championship over the reigning champion USC Trojans in the 2006 Rose Bowl. In that game, Young accounted for nearly 500-yards of total offense, including a 9-yard touchdown run that gave Texas the lead with just 19 second remaining in the game.
Coming off that performance, Young was drafted third-overall in the 2006 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans. Young played well initially, but issues of immaturity and work ethic popped up time and again and Young lasted just five seasons with the team. He landed with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2011 and uttered the now-infamous "Dream Team" phrase.
Because of his talent, Young saw several more opportunities in the NFL with the Bills, Packers and Browns, but the former national champion has not played a regular season down since 2011.
Young is currently "a diversity and community engagement officer in the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement at the University of Texas at Austin and helps raising money to support the division's many educational programs," school officials told Urbaszewski.
