Video game publisher, Atari, will bring its classics back to life through the release of "Atari Vault," a compilation of its classic games that will be re-released on an improved interface.
"Asteroids," "Centipede," "Missile Command," "Tempest" and "Warlords" are some of the games that will be included in the compilation. The user interface of the classics will be upgraded to make it more familiar to modern gamers. It will also have online and multiplayer features to give those familiar with the game something new to look forward to, Digital Trends reports.
Atari also mentions the possibility of making the games available on Steam, giving players access to Steam Controller support and Steam leaderboards.
"For the first time ever, fans from around the world can challenge other players on Steam Leaderboards and compete for arcade supremacy - all while rocking out to the games' original 70's and 80's soundtracks," Atari said in a press release, according to CBS News.
A glimpse of the compilation will be present and playable at the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) South, from January 29-31 in San Antonio, Texas, according to GameSpot.
Price for the compilation has not been disclosed and there is no exact date for the release, but the video game publisher expects to launch Atari Vault in Spring, according to New York Daily News.
