Through its first 11 episodes, "Supergirl" has kept Kara Danvers well-known cousin Superman either off screen or cast in shadow. The CBS superhero drama will introduce a young Kal-El later this season, but its unknown if the grown-up Kal-El will ever appear on screen and who would portray that Man of Steel if he did.
One possibility floating around is the man who played Superman's alter ego Clark Kent for 10 season on The WB/CW show, "Smallville" - Mr. Tom Welling. The actor addressed that possibility in a recent interview with Buzzfeed, but didn't give a definite yes or no to reprising the role that has so far defined his career.
"There's people who would like it... there's people who don't like it, but I will tell you that no one has ever actually asked me to do it. So, I don't know. It would be kind of odd. I don't know who he is at that point. He would obviously be Superman..." Welling told Buzzfeed's Jarrett Wieselman, who tweeted the quote not featured in the final piece.
The "Smallville" star never actually got to don the red cape through the entire series run. He's only seen wearing the classic "S" symbol across his chest in the show's final moment.
Earlier this month, Daniel DiMaggio was cast to play a "Young Kal-El" aka the younger Superman on "Supergirl." He will appear in the episode titled, "For the Girl Who Has Everything."
"Supergirl" airs on Mondays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
