The runaway success of mangaka Hajime Isayama's "Shingeki no Kyojin," better known by its English title, "Attack on Titan," has created one of anime's biggest fanbases in recent history. Thus, when the critically acclaimed series ended, fans of the anime immediately demanded the series' second season, according to Ecumenical News.
Among the rumors that have emerged thus far is the second season's release date, with a number of sources stating that "Attack on Titan" Season 2 would be released sometime this year, possibly during the first or second quarter.
So far, however, neither Isayama nor the anime's production studios, Production I.G. and Wit Studio, have provided any official word on the highly anticipated second season's release date, reported Breathe Cast News.
Perhaps the most interesting rumors about the second season, however, came from the horse's mouth itself. During a previous interview, Isayama stated that the anime's second season would delve more into the series' massive cast of characters, especially Ymir, a rather obscure character during the first season.
Though Isayama's statement might seem like a rather light comment in the grand scheme of the anime's plot, those who have read the manga know exactly what the mangaka was pertaining to. After all, Ymir, though not explored in the first season, becomes a key character in the manga's "Clash of Titans" arc, which is arguably one of the manga's most suspenseful and action-packed arcs to date, according to The International Business Times.
Nevertheless, despite the relative lack of information coming from the creators of both the "Attack on Titan" anime and manga, one thing seems to be certain: the second season of this highly anticipated title would most probably match, if not exceed, its extremely successful first season.
