Hugh Jackman took to social media on Monday to reveal that he went through treatment for skin cancer on his nose again.
"An example of what happens when you don't wear sunscreen. Basal Cell. The mildest form of cancer but serious, nonetheless. PLEASE USE SUNSCREEN and get regular check-ups," the "Wolverine" actor captioned a bandaged post-op picture of himself on Instagram.
This is the 47-year-old actor's fifth time diagnosed with skin cancer since November 2013, when he first received treatment for basal cell carcinoma. Jackman posted a similar post-op bandaged photo of himself at the time.
"Deb [Deborra-Lee Furness] said to get the mark on my nose checked. Boy, was she right! I had a basil cell carcinoma," he wrote at the time, as HNGN previously reported.
The actor has since launched Pure Sun Defense, a line of sunscreen for children with the intention to raise awareness about skin cancer and its dangers.
Jackman opened up about his battle with the disease in a May 2015 interview with People magazine. "It's always a bit of a shock just hearing the word 'cancer,'" he said, according to People. "Being an Australian, it's a very common thing. I never wore sunscreen growing up so I was a prime candidate for it."
"I go every three months for check-ups," he added. "It's the new normal for me. My doctor says I'll likely have more, and if that's your cross to bear in life, you should be so lucky."
