NCIS Season 11: EllIe Bishop's Three Surprises; Did You Like Emily Wickersham's Debut?

Emily Wickersham finally made her long awaited debut as NSA Analyst Eleanor “Ellie” Bishop. And let me just say, it was fun to watch.

There were three things revealed in last night’s episode, “Gut Check”, which we didn’t really expect:

No. 1—She’s got a little Kate and Ziva in her

The investigation into the SecNav breach lead the gang to a man named Rudolph Stalin. Abby was able to find Stalin by using a sketch Bishop drew. After seeing the sketch, Abby made a comment that Bishop is good but not “Kate good.” Still, she can sketch like Kate. In one of the finale scenes of the episode, Bishop tracks a man named Grace to a post office. (She has no idea she has just messed up a Gibbs & Co. stakeout.) She and Grace have a very awkward encounter and after he reads her badge he tackles her. By the time Gibbs and co. arrive at her location, she has taken down Grace with his gun pointed in his back. Now, she’s obviously not the martial arts expert Ziva is. However, I’d like to draw the comparison anyway.

No. 2—She, like Gibbs, likes rules

When we first meet Bishop she’s lost in her work and music. She finally sees Gibbs, McGee, DiNozzo and NSA Agent Flynn (who unfortunately later dies) and has a bit of a fright. She tells Flynn “What’s my Rule No. 1?. Apparently he was supposed to flash the desk light to announce his presence.

No. 3—She may be married

While McGee and DiNozzo are discussing the case with Bishop, DiNozzo notices she has on what looks like a wedding ring. DiNozzo asks a few questions that I’m still waiting for answers to. “Is that a wedding ring?!” “Are you married?!” “How old are you?!”

What did you think of Bishop’s debut? Let me know in the comments below.

“NCIS” airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on CBS.
