DMX is out and about after reportedly almost dying earlier this week. The 45-year-old rapper stepped out in New York City on Thursday night to perform at The Lively nightclub in the Meatpacking district, according to TMZ. This marks his first public appearance since he suffered an apparent drug overdose on Monday night.
DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was reportedly found unconscious and without a pulse in the parking lot of a Ramada Inn in Yonkers, N.Y., as HNGN previously reported. When cops arrived, they determined he was lifeless and quickly began CPR, and after about a minute, his pulse came back. Since one witness had apparently seen the rapper ingesting some sort of powder before he collapsed, the cops also gave him Narcan, which is what led people to believe he might have overdosed.
Due to HIPAA laws, authorities could not confirm the patient's identity, but Yonkers Police Department Lt. Patrick McCormack revealed that police did in fact respond to a call after a man from Mount Kisco, N.Y., was found unconscious and unresponsive without a pulse at the Ramada Inn, according to People. He is not expected to be charged with a crime as nothing was found in his hotel room.
"The cops did a great job," McCormack also told Page Six. "They saved [his] life, no doubt about it."
