Is the feud between Katy Perry and Taylor Swift finally over? In a new interview with The New York Times, Perry revealed that she extended the olive branch and invited Swift to her pre-Grammy's party. Perry, along with the music streaming site Spotify, will co-host a private artists-only event that will take place on Saturday.
"You have to be a creator - it's artists, producers and songwriters," Perry said. "And it's a mixture of new and familiar artists, a combination of the past two years' Grammy nominees and also [acts] from the Spotify Discover playlist. It's Kacey Musgraves, Karen O, Miguel, Tove Lo, Shirley Manson, Max Martin. Then up-and-coming songwriters like Blood Pop and Bonnie McKee all under the same roof as Diane Warren. In some ways, I'm trying to start the Met Ball of music."
Later in the article, Perry confirmed that she did invite Swift along with Adele, but their attendance is "up to their schedules," according to Perry.
The feud between Perry and Swift first started back in September 2014 when Swift revealed to Rolling Stone that her song "Bad Blood" was inspired by her rivalry with another female pop star.
"For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not," Swift told the magazine at the time. "She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, 'Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?'"
While Swift did not specifically call out Perry during the interview, the feud became evident in July 2015 when Perry inserted herself into the Swift versus Nicki Minaj Twitter feud and wrote: "Finding it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as one unmeasurably capitalizes on the take down of a woman," according to Us Weekly.
While Minaj and Swift made up, the "Blank Space" and "Fireworks" singers have yet to make up.
