Gwen Stefani: No Doubt Forms Supergroup Without Lead Singer

Southern California rockers No Doubt joined forces with Davey Havok, the lead singer of emo punk band AFI, to form a new supergroup - without Gwen Stefani. Havok formed the unnamed new band with No Doubt bass player Tony Kanal, guitarist Tom Dumont and drummer Adrian Young, a representative for the group confirmed to Billboard.

The newly formed group - who hired Pat Magnarella as its manager (Magnarella also manages Green Day) - is already seeking a record deal for a completed album, according to Billboard.

AFI has sold 4.1 million records since 1995. The group's latest release was 2013's "Burials." Meanwhile, No Doubt has sold 16.3 million albums since 1992 with Stefani as its frontwoman. The band's last album was 2012's "Push and Shove."

No Doubt toured in support of "Push and Shove" until 2015, reported Rolling Stone. But following her divorce from Bush rocker Gavin Rossdale last August, Stefani is dedicating more time to her solo career. (She released the breakup song "Used to Love You" in October.)

"I think I have enough for, probably, two albums," Stefani told Zane Lowe in a Beats 1 interview last fall (via Fuse). "I have to write a few more songs because I feel, like, might as well keep going while it's there."

Stefani's third solo studio album, "This is What the Truth Feels Like," is set for a March 18 release.
