Hasbro unveiled its latest models of Nerf products at the 2016 New York Toy Fair. Among the items is an automatic toy gun, the Nerf Rival Khaos, which has toy bullets that shoot at 68 mph.
The blaster is described as "heavy and massive" and it's packed with a 40-round magazine. However, the bullets supposedly won't hurt nor cause injury when they hit a person since they are made of spongy foam, according to The Verge.
While essentially a toy gun, the Nerf Rival Khaos appeals more to older customers and Nerf hobbyists looking for an authentic "tactical" feel, according to Inverse. The toys will ship to stores in the fall and will cost $70 each.
Parents who are planning to buy this toy for their older kids and teens might have nothing to worry about. "It is no different than a paint ball gun and can be lots of fun. The only thing I find disturbing is the price!" said one parent, via Today.
"For comparison, paintball gun muzzle velocity is 300 fps (204.5 mph), and airsoft guns are as high as 500 fps (340.9 mph). Eye protection is a good idea, and is likely recommended by the manufacturer. Injury from this toy is highly unlikely," said another.
