It is no secret that Morgan Freeman has one of the most soothing and distinctive voices out there. The actor stopped by "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Wednesday night when the host asked Freeman if he could narrate the activities of a bunch of unsuspecting tourists walking down Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles.
Kimmel placed a hidden camera and then had the actor provide some narration with his deep voice for the tourist's activities. When Morgan and Kimmel spotted their first target, Freeman launched into a monologue about "perfect selfies Paul."
"There he was, the man in the red, checkered shirt, holding his selfie stick, trying to get that perfect selfie. Perfect-Selfie Paul, that's what we call him," Freeman said. "How he loved that selfie stick. Looking for that perfect selfie," Freeman said. "Could this be the one? Light's just right, maybe over by this wall? No. Not perfect enough for 'Perfect Selfie' Paul."
Eventually, "perfect selfies Paul" found another person with a self-stick walking down the road, who Freeman named "selfie-stick Sam."
"Just two grown-ass men, taking pictures of themselves on a f-ing stick," Freeman said of the two tourists.
Later in the show, Freeman explained how he learned to talk in such a distinctive way.
"The way I speak is that of a clown," Kimmel told the actor.
"I went to school to study how to be an actor and in that school, Los Angeles City College, I had a voice and diction instructor who was very good at his job," Freeman told Kimmel. "You had to learn to speak and sound your final consonants."
"So you actually learned something in College? I learned how to drink beer out of a funnel," Kimmel replied.
Kimmel was not the only one to take advantage of Freeman's distinctive voice. The GPS company Waze teamed up with the actor to narrate the directions on the app for a limited time as part of promotions for his new film "London Has Fallen." His voice comes as an optional setting on the Google-owned navigation app, which allows users to enable his voice to guide them to their destination. However, the actor did admit during his interview on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" that he did not listen to the app.
