Taco Bell Launches $1 Breakfast Menu Nationwide

McDonald's may have all-day breakfast, but Taco Bell now has much cheaper morning options. The popular Mexican fast food chain just launched a one-dollar breakfast menu nationwide and it's filled with some brand new items that make Taco Bell stand out from the rest.

The 10-item Morning Value Menu officially became available Thursday morning, nearly two years after Taco Bell first introduced breakfast to its menu, and it features three brand new items, as well as some classics. The new items include a Mini Skillet Bowl, which is a breakfast bowl with potatoes, scrambled eggs, cheese and Pico de Gallo; a Breakfast Soft Taco with either bacon or sausage; and a Sausage Flatbread Quesadilla, which is a grilled flat break with scrambled eggs, a blend of three cheeses and sausage. Prior to launching the cheap menu, Taco Bell conducted a study to find out that - to no surprise - customers actually prefer spending less money.

"We believe firmly in the power of research and strive to deeply understand our customers," said Marisa Thalberg, Chief Marketing Officer for Taco Bell Corp. "We also believe firmly in the power of the painfully obvious. Our survey results were completely expected: Americans would rather pay less and have more choice. And of course, they love bacon for breakfast. While dollar menus disappear across America, Taco Bell is continuing to reinvent breakfast with delicious and unique menu items only Taco Bell can provide, with 10 items for $1 each."

The rest of the menu includes the Grilled Breakfast Burrito, with either bacon, sausage or fiesta potato, a Hash Brown, Cinnabon Delights and Mountain Dew Kickstart.

"The introduction of the $1 Morning Value Menu shows the brand's dedication to disrupt America's breakfast routines by presenting classic breakfast flavors with a twist," the press release reads. "All at a price fans will go crazy for."

This exciting news comes just a few months after the popular chain announced that it would be switching over completely to cage-free eggs by the end of 2016. This change will not only bring an "appeal to customers' tastes," but is the company's response to the animal welfare concerns of customers.

"We commend Taco Bell for going completely cage-free in a little over a year," said Rachel Dreskin, the Food Business Manager at Compassion in World Farming. "This is the first significant announcement they have made regarding animal welfare in the United States. Taco Bell caters to a diverse customer base, and this announcement demonstrates that treating animals with respect is a value that is shared across the entire population."
