Rory Feek Shares Emotional Details From Joey Feek's Funeral [PHOTO, VIDEO]

Country singer Rory Feek opened up about his wife Joey Feek's funeral service on his blog on Saturday.

Joey Feek, 40, who died on March 4 after losing a battle with cervical cancer, was laid to rest on Tuesday in Tennessee in the presence of friends and family.

"In a grove of sassafras trees behind our farmhouse, with friends and family gathered around, we said goodbye to the greatest person I have ever known," Rory Feek said in his blog post titled "Dust to Dust."

"The service started in our barn/concert hall," he wrote, before recalling the last time the country duo performed on that dais. "The last time we were on that stage, was in early October and Joey and I were singing together. But now, a photograph of Joey was in the spotlight... and I was one of many who were there to honor her."

The 49-year-old went on to describe the rollercoaster of emotions he went through after watching a video tribute to Joey, put together by their friends.

"And when my time was through and I thought I couldn't cry anymore tears...they played a video celebrating Joey's life that our friends Daniel and Gabe made," Feek said about the video montage, set to Iris DeMent's "After You're Gone." "And my tears were replaced by smiles and laughter and joy and more tears.

"When it came my time to speak, I walked up on the stage and stood looking at my wife's sweet picture... and words were not enough to let her know how much she meant to me - how much she still means to me," he continued.

In the post, Rory also shared several pictures from the funeral service, including one that shows him kissing a large picture of his late wife.

Rory wrote that after the guests had left he and the couple's 2-year-old daughter Indiana walked back to Joey's grave in the family cemetery behind the barn "to see her mama one last time."

"And then we took a deep breath and did what Joey would want us to do," he added. "We remembered that she's still with us. She''ll always be with us. In our hearts. Forever."
