As we've seen from all the highly-anticipated and quickly-sold-out Yeezy releases, Kanye West fans will do whatever it takes to get their hands on some of his merchandise.
When the rapper surprisingly announced that he would be having a Pablo pop-up shop, named after his new album "The Life Of Pablo," in New York City, fans started lining up as early as they could and, as anticipated, massive lines began to form.
"PABLO POP-UP SHOP MARCH 18-20 FRI 4-8 PM SAT SUN 12-8 PM AT 83 WOOSTER IN NYC," West tweeted on Thursday.
The following day, he posted a photo of the SoHo street around 1 p.m., just a few hours before the shop would open, showing just how long the line outside already was. The line of people wrapped around the block and brought in such a crowd of people that NYPD officers had to stay on the street to keep things under control.
Not only did the store bring in hundreds of Yeezy fans, but it brought fashion lovers and those looking to resell the items for even more money. Only 15 customers were allowed in at a time, so they could shop the blue and maroon "I Feel Like Pablo" shirts, which cost $40 to $65, as well as the $95 hoodies, and $350 bombers. There were also $35 beanies and $40 baseball hats available at the cash register, as well as a special rack of denim jackets that seemed to be the biggest hits of the day.
Even though the Levi denim jackets were $400 each, no two jackets were alike, which made them an extremely hot item. Some jackets were covered in huge lettering that read "PABLO" all over the back, and others were completely marked with black markers that read "The Life Of Pablo." There were some with plaid lining, leopard-print collars and some featuring wool.
Fans were spending thousands of dollars on the rare merchandise, some of which was seen during the Yeezy Season 3 fashion show, with a lot of people planning to re-sell. "To tell you the truth, eight out of every 10 people in here are going to get rid of what they bought," said one college student who spent "north of a grand" in the shop. "The markup price-it's really hard to refuse. You can get at least 50% more than what you paid."
"I bought one of everything," said another shopper who spent close to $900. "I'll resell this stuff for at least double the price. Everything he touches sells out in an hour."
One fan even sold a $90 Pablo sweater for $250 just minutes after he bought it. "I'm living the life of Pablo!" he said.
