Telltale Games has confirmed that it is working on a new episodic game similar to its immensely popular "The Waking Dead" video game set in George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones universe. Rumors that the developer was getting its hands on the popular HBO series surfaced earlier last month and were finally confirmed on Monday at the VGX Awards. Now a press release about the game has shed more light on what people can expect.
"Since the very beginning, Telltale's goal has been to work alongside the most talented and respected forces in entertainment, bringing their worlds to the interactive space as no other game studio can," said Dan Connors, co-founder and CEO of Telltale Games. "Working with HBO to develop a new game series based on Game of Thrones is a natural fit for our studio. This partnership will create an experience that will captivate the huge, global Game of Thrones audience. It will put them in control of the epic stories of warfare, intrigue, violence and revenge that we know and love."
According to IGN, the project is described as a "milti-yeah, multi-title partnership between Telltale and HBO Global Licensing, targeted to premiere digitally in 2014 with an episodic game series for home consoles, PC/Mac and mobile devices. Specific platform details are yet to be announced."
What this likely means is, like the developer's "The Walking Dead" series, new season of the unnamed "Game of Thrones" project will be released each year. What remains to be seen is how these games will tie into the already intricate storyline of the television show and books.

"Our fans are always looking for new, exciting ways to engage with the Game of Thrones brand and this game series will put them right in the middle of the action by letting them decide where the story will lead. In case you're not a "Game of Thrones" fan but love Telltale's episodic game type, never fear. Telltale also announced a project set in the "Borderlands" game world called "Tales from the Borderlands."
