Fans of last year's massively popular "Naruto" spin-off film "Boruto: Naruto the Movie" are set to receive a pretty notable treat soon, as the official manga of the young ninja's story is set to begin on May 9. But that is not all.
Even before May, "Naruto" author and the man behind the massive franchise, Masashi Kishimoto, is allegedly set to release a special one-shot manga on April 25, a couple of weeks prior to the release of the official "Boruto" serialization. If that does happen, then the following months would be very good for fans of the franchise indeed.
As of writing, very few details about the actual "Boruto" manga serialization have been revealed. Though the staff working on the project has been confirmed months before, information about the actual plot of the upcoming manga has been scarce. Many are also speculating that a number of characters from Kishimoto's original "Naruto" series will be featured in the "Boruto" manga.
With Kishimoto giving the series his blessing, however, fans could at least rest assure that the plot would pass by the eyes of the creator himself before going to print.
Since Kishimoto has already laid the groundwork for the "Boruto" manga, it should be pretty easy for Mikie Ikemoto, Kishimoto's assistant, who is now helming the "Boruto" project, to pick up where the story left off. Since the story of the new series is essentially the ushering in of a new era in the ninjistu-driven world of "Naruto," having an apprentice author take over seems very fitting.
Of course, with the new series confirmed and with Kishimoto's involvement as supervisor of the new manga, "Boruto" is looking pretty good. After all, last year's movie, "Boruto: Naruto the Movie," was a very pleasant surprise to a significant number of the franchise's fans. Due to its immersive plot and its engaging story, it managed to endear old and new fans alike.
The "Boruto" manga would feature the adventures and exploits of Naruto's son, together with Sasuke and Sakura's daughter Sarada Uchiha and Orochimaru's son Mitsuki. Helmed and illustrated by Mikie Ikemoto and written by Ukyo Kodachi, the new series is set to start its run on May 9 on the popular manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump.
