Justin Bieber, 22, had apparently made extravagant arrangements to surprise former love Selena Gomez and win her back with a romantic date night but cancelled his plans at the very last minute.
The "What Do You Mean?" hitmaker made preparations to rent out the Staples Center for a private screening of Gomez's favorite movie, "Titanic," after she attended his concert in Los Angeles last week.
"Justin wanted to rent out the Staples Center after his concert to do a repeat date night screening of 'Titanic' for Selena because he is trying to get back with her," a source revealed.
"I don't know why he didn't go through with it, and I also don't know if he ever even told Selena about his plan, but I do know he is really obviously trying to date her again," the source added. "He wanted to do something big and extravagant for her like this and had been making arrangements for the movie date before his concert even started."
Another insider said that Biebs was in an "off" mood all day up until the concert and the singer even ended up leaving 20 minutes early with Gomez, prompting Skrillex to take over the end of the show.
"He cancelled his meet and greet that fans paid $2000 for," the source said. "During his concert between songs, he was alluding to the fact that he wasn't happy to be there. At one point during the concert he was just lying on the stage not singing, just letting the track run."
Last week, Bieber announced that he will be cancelling all of his meet and greet events for the rest of the "Purpose" World Tour citing emotional and mental exhaustion "to the point of depression."
The insider added that Bieber cancelled the planned date over an argument he had with his ex-girlfriend before the show.
"The speculation is that an argument had taken place between the two before the show since he cancelled the date plans," the source revealed. "Something had shifted Bieber's mood completely."
Two days before Gomez attended his concert, Bieber shared a throwback photo of himself and the 23-year-old kissing on Instagram captioned, "feels," fueling speculation that they were getting back together, much to the delight of Jelena fans, who have wanted the couple to reconcile since they split up in 2014.
