Rockstar Games has released a free update to its popular multiplayer experience "Grand Theft Auto Online" that includes the highly anticipated Content Creator that lets you create your own races and deathmatches in the game to be played with friends and strangers.
According to IGN, once you download the update you can access the Deathmatch and Race creator Beta in the Online tab of the pause screen. Here you'll see options to create a new game or load and edit and existing one. Luckily for those who aren't a natural at content creators, there is a brief playable tutorial that will show you the ropes before you're left completely to your own devices.
To make a deathmatch you must first choose a location and then select a trigger point where people can meet to take part. From there, you'll be able to choose start points, spawn points and begin dropping weapons and vehicles in strategic locations so that players can engage with all of the most fun toys in the best locations on your map.
Before any of your creations go live, you'll be forced to test your races and deathmatches in a controlled environment with computer bots replacing actual opponents and teammates. If the tests go well, you'll be able to publish your creation, which will make it appear inside your GTA Online session and on the Social Club website, for those who want to be able to play your map after you leave their current session. Periodically, Rockstar says it will be going through the player-made creations and will slap a "Rockstar Verified" sticker on the best ones.
In addition to the content creator, Rockstar has pushed forward a few bug fixes and made some tweaks to the gameplay. For example, users will now be able to run inside of their apartments, there will be more flexibility to create weapon-locked deathmatches and higher cash payouts when increasing the difficulty on in-game missions.
