The first trailer for Daniel Radcliffe's new R-rated film "Swiss Army Man" was finally released following the premiere of the movie at the Sundance Film Festival.
"Swiss Army Man" co-stars Pual Dano as a suicidal man stranded on an island who finds salvation in a corpse, played by Radcliffe, that washes up onshore. Dano's character Hank realizes the corpse may be his only opportunity to escape the island, so the half alive, half dead duo goes on an epic adventure together - even though the corpse farts throughout the entire film. At one point, Dano's character even uses the flatulent corpse as a human jet ski to travel across water.
"Using farts other than comedy, like using them for plot and emotion and making some people super uncomfortable," Radcliffe previously said of the film. "There is something wonderful about it."
The film was written and directed by music video-directing duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, who are collectively known as "the Daniels." "Swiss Army Men" won the Dramatic Directing Award at Sundance and the film was picked up by A24, the same distributor responsible for critical darling "Room," which was nominated for Best Picture and starred Brie Larson, who took home the Oscar for Best Actress.
"It was great and original and exciting and completely mad, and unlike anything else I've ever done or read," Radcliffe continued. "I loved the physical challenge of it. I loved seeing how painful I could make things look!"
"It is totally bananas, but by page two, I was inevitably going to do it," Dano said.
As for the reviews of the film, which have been mixed, co-director Kwan said he was loving what the press was writing.
"If you read the headlines, they're just amazing," he said. "I couldn't have written them better myself."
"I love that it's this perverse and mad," Radcliffe agreed. "It's exciting, to be honest."
