'Dark Souls 3' Patch Update Introduces Various Bug Fixes, NPC Questline Adjustments

"Dark Souls III" has been out for nearly two weeks now, and it may prove to be the best "Dark Souls" game yet, and Bandai Namco has been hard at work fixing various bugs and refining the gameplay to make sure this title is one to last.

With that in mind, Souls fans will likely be delighted that another update is slated to eventually arrive that will introduce various bug fixes as well as a few alterations to some NPC questlines.

Bandai Namco announced on its JP website that the update will fix various combat-related bugs such as the Dragonslayer Armor dying on its own before the fight begins, as well as one in which the Crystal Sage would not reappear after warping in. Beyond combat, other fixes such as certain menus not displaying the correct information when the player wears a ring that increases Max HP will also be introduced.

The standout among this patch are the adjustments and bug fixes that will be introduced for various NPC questlines. As you may know, NPC questlines have often been an integral component of the "Dark Souls" series, affecting whether certain NPCs will be available for boss fights and the availability of certain equipment. It's more of the same in the latest entry, however these questlines have an added importance since they also impact the ending the player receives. Unfortunately, these questlines are often difficult to complete, but this update will address that somewhat. The notes promise that some NPC questline events will be easier to trigger and Siegward will always save Greirat when the conditions are met (he didn't do this before?).

Interestingly, the notes also mention that the requirement for joining the Rosaria's Fingers covenant will be less strict. It's unclear what this means, as "Dark Souls" is known for having poorly explained patch notes. It's possible that this means Sirris won't leave after joining, as that's the only caveat involved with the covenant that's memorable.

The post doesn't say when the update is coming, but From Software has confirmed that there will be a server maintenance before its release.
