OnePlus has stirred up the smartphone industry since the day of its launch. Even though there is no comparison to its hardware, which is available at such an amazing and affordable cost, the product has been struggling quite a bit when it comes to software.
Initially, OnePlus created the Oxygen OS for the general population, but the Chinese got to use its Hydrogen OS. While the first one has a neat interface and looks quite similar to vanilla Android, the latter is a tweaked and heavier version, states Android Authority.
While offering separate OS to cater to different kind of people helped attract users to some extent but it has its own down side as well. For example, a lot more efforts are required to be made to maintaining two different sets of OS.
Now, OnePlus has decided to merge Oxygen OS and Hydrogen OS to create a single and optimal user interface that will cater to the needs of all types of users and will help improve update times.
In fact, speeding software update is one of the primary reasons behind this merger and is also a big step in the right direction of improvement.
The team merges will allow all developers to focus on just single user interface (UI) and push updates faster. In addition, this step is expected to create room for improvement and future growth. There will be an easier process to fix the bugs, and the entire process will take a lot less time than before.
The company is open for feedback and suggestions from the community and is planning to take them seriously while developing the new interface. The upcoming version will address a majority of feedback that the company has already received from its users.
While people currently using OnePlus' Oxygen OS and liking its experience may not be open to the upcoming new interface, but it might just give them the opportunity to experience something Google-like and that too with faster updates.
