'Iron Man 4' updates: Changes behind fourth sequel may involve Robert Downey Jr.'s replacement

With many superhero movies set to hit the big screen in the coming months such as "Avengers: Infinity War", "Justice League", "Spiderman: Homecoming" and others, another superhero will most likely make a comeback to the silver screen soon - Iron Man.

In 2014, actor Robert Downey Jr. announced that they will shoot the sequel to the Iron Man movie. However he stopped short of talking about the movie's potential release date, as rumors spread that salary issues have threatened to cancel its filming.

But as Gamenguide relayed, Downey Jr. guaranteed all fans that the "cancellation rumors" are merely hearsay. The report also noted the 51-year-old actor's photo on Twitter showing him in a meeting with some men in a restaurant - a simple get-together at first glance, but a closer look reveals that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige features in the photo. Downey captioned the photo "New project @Jon_Favreau and @RidingShotgunLA are working on!"

So who would be crazy enough to dismiss Downey's remarks? No one perhaps, unless of course there is truth in the rather-unsettling rumor that he's paving the way for a young actor to replace him in the upcoming Iron Man sequel. According to Mobile & Apps, Marvel title character Ironheart, also known as Riri Williams, might replace Downey's character in the next Iron Man installment. Downey will be replaced by a female character named Riri Williams. Many Iron Fans have reacted strongly towards the rumor, fueled further by Downey's Twitter post captioned, "Get ready for a new generation of Marvel BAMF." The report also said that both RJY and Marvel Studio have yet to settle the actor's fee to do the new sequel, hence his potential replacement.

I guess fans will have to wait until Downey speaks up on the Iron Man sequel's true status.
