The Golden State Warriors had a wonderful 2015-2016 NBA season. They got the best record of 73-9 that season, which broke the Chicago Bulls' record of 72-10 during the 1995-96 season. The accomplishment would've been sweeter had they have won the NBA title, but they didn't.
After leading 3-1 in the NBA Finals, they were beaten by the Cleveland Cavaliers in Games 5, 6 and 7. That gave Cavs the title and left Warriors fans disappointed. Good news is that they got this summer's biggest acquisition in the form of Kevin Durant.
According to Parent Herald, Kevin Durant's skill set and ability to take a foul is a big asset to the Warriors. The Warriors management admitted that they have an awful 76.3% free throw percentage last season and that's what Durant will be able to contribute. Durant has a career average of 88.2% in free throws and last season he averaged 89.8%.
The report also said that coach Steve Kerr would prefer Kevin Durant rather than Stephen Curry in a crucial situation because Durant appears more dependable and experienced than Curry. The two-time reigning MVP is more reliable on three-point shooting and ability to pass on his teammates.
An earlier report also says Durant and Curry are not connected to each other and perhaps Curry would leave the team. But this was refuted by Curry himself by saying he wants to re-sign with the Warriors after the season.
As per ESPN's report, Curry is optimistic he'll be back with the team after the season when asked by media Tuesday. It will be the first time he will be an unrestricted free agent but made it clear that signing with the Warriors is his priority. The report also says that Curry will focus on the team and becoming a free agent won't distract him.
If the combination of Curry and Durant, together with Klay Thompson and Draymond Green would succeed, they will definitely be the most feared opponents on the court.
