'NCIS' showrunner Gary Glasberg mysteriously dies at 50: Know what happened

The 'NCIS' executive producer, Gary Glasberg, mysteriously died in his sleep on Sept. 28, Wednesday. The man behind the world's most watched show was 50.

Glasberg's death took place in Los Angeles. The married father of two was managing both the season of the all-time hit shows - "NCIS" Season 14 and its third-year spinoff, "NCIS New Orleans." His death has shocked the show's fans, who loved the hardworking mastermind behind the shows to the core.

In May 2016, the "NCIS" producers CBS Television Studios has signed a three-year contract with Glasberg. The deal would have enabled Glasberg to continue to juggle between the two shows until 2019, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Glasberg is survived by his two sons, Eli and Dash, a beautiful wife of 20 years Mimi Schmir, his father Edwin Glasberg and his sister Mindy Glasberg. Schmir worked with Glasberg on "Shark" who is also a famous screenwriter and TV producer.

The family is planning to hold a memorial service for Glasberg later in October, according to Variety. However, they have requested privacy and are unavailable for any kind of comments on his death.

The long time producer and TV writer died in his sleep for "unknown" reasons." It is not clear whether the reason for his death will be investigated.

As soon as the news broke out and CBS confirmed Glasberg's death, the "NCIS" team released a statement saying that the things would never be the same without him. He was a "cheerleader" and an "inspiration" for the team who not only showed great leadership skills, but also possessed an unbeatable humor that lifted everyone's soul on the sets of the show.

Meanwhile, CBS Television Studios president David Stapf has released a statement saying that the company is totally "devastated" by the news of Glasberg's death. He revealed how the writer-producer called CBS his home.
