An elementary school employee was terminated from her job after deliberately dubbing Michelle Obama as "gorilla" on her post on Facebook.
Jane Wood Allen, a teacher-aide of Chestatee Elementary School in Gainesville, Georgia posted discriminating messages against the First Lady in August.
Media outlets reported the incident during the fall break, causing public outrage.
Following calls of Allen's sanction, officials of Chestatee Elementary School terminated her from service effective Oct. 3, 2016.
Jennifer Caracciolo, district communications director, emphasized that the matter would serve as an example for all schools staff that racial discrimination is not allowed in the district.
The school official also pointed out that the school condemned racism and discrimination.
Allen posted in her Facebook page a face with almost bald hair of First Lady Michelle Obama with these following messages: "This poor gorilla. How is she going to function in a real world, by not having all of her luxurious vacations paid for anymore? She needs to focus on getting a total makeover (especially the hair), instead of planning vacations! She is a disgrace to America!"
These posts were removed and Jane's Facebook account can no longer be found. The phone number listed for her has no one answering. It was not in a set up to allow voice messages. But some social media users have preserved them for any purpose.
It can be recalled that the U.S. experienced civil war due to the issue of black slavery and racial discrimination during the 19th century. Yet until today some white Americans still cannot avoid practicing the actions. It is just surprising to know that the First lady was among the victims.
