CBS soap opera "The Bold and the Beautiful" witnessed a very powerful story this week and the writers must be lauded for doing it so well. They refrained from clichés but something was there that has been used on the show time and again.
It is the unsigned/unfiled marriage license thing that has surfaced many a time on "The Bold and the Beautiful" and it made a reappearance in the case of Quinn and Eric too, reports Daytime Confidential. Last week saw the Forrester family head explode with anger when his clan members took objections at his wedding with Quinn. Eric was furious when the family members decided to boycott his wedding. Their hatred for Quinn did not sit well with Eric (John McCook) and he gave them a severe dressing down.
McCook really played the angry lover part with conviction and the way he took each member to task, was just beautiful. Quinn (Rena Sofer), the seemingly reformed sociopath, had an emotional day too and bared her heart before her son Wyatt. Sofer, like McCook, was also brilliant in her portrayal of a distressed woman, who is being opposed by all and one, in her husband's family.
Wyatt listened to her like the classical helpless son who is always torn between his warring mother and wife. However, Ridge was not so considerate and blamed Quinn for Eric's collapse (he doubled over due to a bleeding brain). He did everything in his capacity to keep the married pair apart and herein comes the unsigned marriage plot. Eric and Quinn had not signed and filed for their marriage license.
So, in a way, they were not yet married and if one analyses the soap opera, one would find that this plot has been used many a time in the past. Many marriages have taken place under this garb. It happened in the case of Ridge and Brooke and Hope was also involved in the same thing with Liam. Others might also be there and therefore, one wonders, how many more such marriages are waiting in the wings to happen? Have the show writers taken a fancy to this weird plot?
