Netflix 'House of Cards' Gets Director's Commentary To Re-Spark Interest For Upcoming Second Season

Last year Netflix's original series "House of Cards" captivated the American public, showing people that a Netflix subscription could offer more than just the ability to binge watch your favorite shows and watch the occasional favorite movie. House of Cards was such a popular dramatic hit that it won an Emmy-Award and is Golden Globe nominated.

The show was so successful that it caused Netflix to green light a second season, which will be hitting the streaming service soon. In order to spark interest in the second season of the show, the company is hoping to bring people's attention back to the first season by offering its equivalent of a DVD special feature in the form of a director's commentary. Audio will run over the show's entire collection of Season 1 episodes including directors like: David Fincher (The Social Network), James Foley (Glengarry Glen Ross), Joel Schumacher (Falling Down), Charles McDougall (The Good Wife), Carl Franklin (Homeland) and Allen Coulter (The Sopranos).

The feature is available as an option on the subtitle and alternate audio preference menu on Netflix, according to IGN.

The first season of House of Cards, from executive producer and Academy Award nominated screenwriter Beau Willimon, stars Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright and Kate Mara. It's based on a BBC miniseries of the same name and follows the political drama surrounding Francis Underwood (Spacey), who is the House Majority Whip. He and his equally ambitious wife Claire (Wright) will each stop at nothing to climb to the top of the political latter, but they're going to do it on their own terms.

The second season of House of Cards will go up on Netflix in its entirety on Friday, February 14. In the mean time, now is as good a time as any to log onto your account and give the director's commentary a listen.
