The arrival of former MVP Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah and Courtney Lee to the New York Knicks lineup made most analysts believe that the team is bound to rise in the Eastern Conference. But that is not happening in the beginning of this season.
At 3-4, the New York Knicks is currently 10th in the East right now. According to Sportsrageous, Knicks president Phil Jackson blamed head coach Jeff Hornacek for the limited usage of the triangle offense. Because in their 7 games this season, Hornacek normally uses a faster pace offense.
Knicks star Carmelo Anthony is having a hard time coping in the triangle offense. But since it is Jackson's mandate to use the triangle offense for the Knicks, Anthony is forced to follow.
Aside from that, Anthony still hasn't won an NBA championship despite being an elite player for 13 seasons. And according to HNGN, Carmelo Anthony could possibly join the NBA defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Cleveland Cavaliers is currently tied with the Charlotte Hornets atop the East with a record of 6-1. But their NBA Finals rival, Golden State Warriors, is also doing so well this season.
At 7-2, the Warriors is currently sitting at the second spot in the West. And it is becoming evident that Kevin Durant really fits in to the Warriors' system. And it is also clear that the Warriors is the NBA superteam now.
Since the Cavs and the Warriors are the clear favorite to meet in the NBA Finals for the third straight season, the Cavs might need another superstar caliber player to match the Warriors' overwhelming talent. And Carmelo Anthony might be just what the Cavs need.
But to do that, they need to let go one of their big time player. And Kevin Love might be that person to be given away. Kevin Love is rumored in a lot of trade talks. And speculations say that Love doesn't fit in the Cavs' system.
If Love will be traded to the Knicks, he might restore his All-Star level numbers. Aside from that, Love might be the more better player to be in the triangle offense. Who knows? The Knicks might have a better record with Love in their lineup instead of Anthony.
Anthony might be a good fit for the Cavs and they might form the East superteam with LeBron James and Kyrie Irving. And the Cleveland Cavaliers might be the place where Anthony will get his first NBA championship. Because at this point, the Knicks are nowhere near the level of the Cavs in terms of dominance on the court.
Will this trade push through? As of now, no negotiations have taken place for both the Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks.
