It has been known for some time that Agent Jack Bauer will be returning in a miniseries titled "24: Live Another Day." Now Fox has made this feel more like a reality than ever before by announcing an official release date for the action series' return.
24: Live Another Day will debut on Monday, May 5 with a special two-hour premiere at 8 p.m. Following the extra special, and extra lengthy, premiere the show will then take its regular time slot at Monday Nights at 9 p.m.
According to IGN, Kiefer Sutherland will be reprising his iconic role as the renegade government agent Jack Bauer alongside series regulars Mary Lynn Rajskub, Kim Raver and William Devane. Dexter and Chuck's Yvonne Strahovski was recently announced as a new cast member on the show for its 12-episode run. She'll play Kate Morgan, "a brilliant but impulsive CIA field operative" in London, where the entire season will take place, according to USA Today.
Other additions to the cast include Giles Matthey of Jobs, Gbenga Akinnagbe of The Wire, Michael Wincott of The Crow and Judy Davis of Life with Judy Garland. IGN notes that Davis is an Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe Award winner.
More news on the return of 24 will likely roll in later today as the cast and producers are set to appear at the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour.
In other news from Fox, the network also revealed a new comedy called "Surviving Jack," which will premier March 27, while their summer series Gang Related, featuring Terry O'Quinn, debuts May 20.
