OnePlus CEO Carl Pei has confirmed the news on twitter saying, "The beta program for 3T starts post stable N." Android 7.0 Nougat has the features of ability to split-screen between any two apps.
It also boasts a redesigned notifications shade and dramatically improved battery saving technology. Some of these features appear in the latest beta of OxygenOS.
The new beta includes a redesigned notification design, overhauled Settings menu, a multi-window view, direct replies from within the notifications, new status bar icons, quick launch ability for third-party applications, and improved shelf customisation, reports Express.
Apart from standard Nougat features OnePlus has also loaded the Nougat build with changes specific to OxygenOS. There you can find a new status bar icon options, alongside a quick launch feature for third-party apps and added customization options for the Smartphone's "Shelf" feature.
However, the new OnePlus software is still unfinished, the installing the beta is advisably only for those who are feeling adventurous. The latest version of the beta is also breaking the ability to use Android Pay contactless payments on the device.
Company has warned its users about stability issues that are linked to the new beta, by posting on its official company blog, "Given that this is a shift to a brand new version of Android, there may be more bugs in this build than previous Open Beta builds. By installing this update, you accept the potential risks."
The build will not be available as an over-the-air update to current open beta users, for installation you can go ahead and download the software update using this link.
You will manually need to install the update by downloading a ZIP file, and then follow the instructions located on this page to complete the installation.
The OnePlus 3T is set to receive the update a little later than its predecessor. According to Carl Pei, the Nougat beta program for the OnePlus 3T will start roll out after company releases the stable build of Nougat.
