Trade rumors are starting to heat up as the February trade deadline is closing in. And it seems that the Brooklyn Nets will be the first team that will be engaged in it. Now, rumors are spreading that they are considering of trading Brook Lopez to the Boston Celtics ahead of the trade deadline.
Lopez, whose name was quiet in the rumor mills for quite some time, was previously linked to being traded to the Chicago Bulls, Charlotte Hornets, and Denver Nuggets. But none of those rumored deal has ever got off and just fade away into thin air. But with the Nets continues to struggle as of late, trading Lopez is a possibility and it appears that the Celtics are interested in signing him.
The Celtics, who've been one of the busiest team during the offseason, was looking for an added depth on their roster. Superstars or not, they are searching for an extra body who could make them at least a contender for the title this season. And with many tradeable assets at their disposal, they are willing to enter a trade deal and it looks like the Nets have one of the players they are looking for.
Last October, The Inquisitr already reported that the Boston Celtics are previously showing an interest in acquiring Brook Lopez from the Brooklyn Nets. Although the Celtics already acquired one of the biggest fish in the free agency last summer in Al Horford, Celtics general manager Danny Ainge and the rest of the team still felt that they needed more support for Horford and Isaiah Thomas.
However, the Celtics are not pitching any trade offers to the Nets during that time and simply because they haven't made up their mind on who's to be the right piece to be moved. But now, it is clearer for them to make a deal and ready to plunge on trade talks.
A proposed trade deal was being recommended to the Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets. Trade scenario is suggesting that the Nets will send Brook Lopez to the Celtics in exchange for Jonas Jerebko and Tyler Zeller plus their own 2018 first-round draft pick that was coming from the Celtics.
Many believe that both teams benefit from this suggested deal. Boston will finally have the player that can play alongside Thomas and Horford and could give LeBron James and the rest of the Cleveland Cavaliers a stiff competition this season.
On the other hand, the Nets probably got the perfect replacement for Lopez with Jerebko and Zeller. Though they are not superstars, both are solid players that could give ample support for them. But the biggest steal for them could be the 2018 pick which many thinks will be filled by many young and talented crop of players from college.
Will the Brooklyn Nets finally decide of trading Brook Lopez to the Boston Celtics before the February trade deadline?
