Since the exit of one of the most-beloved characters in the highly popular police procedural drama television series, "NCIS," the number of cancellation rumors for the show have been continually increasing. Michael Weatherly previously announced his exit from the show, having starred in it since its first season, during the series' thirteenth season finale episode.
With his exit, ratings for the show have continually dropped, which has now incited fear amongst its fans that CBS may soon consider cancellation the show altogether. Now, one of the show's main cast members, Mark Harmon, who plays the role of Leroy Jethro Gibbs, has expressed his take on the cancellation rumors and of the possible end of the hit television series.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Harmon explained that he and the rest of the people in the show are still adjusting to the changes that have been made so far. He mentions that no one yet knows what the future holds for the show itself.
But that it is a known fact that all good things do come to an end. Despite his ominous remarks, Harmon urges fans to just take the time and enjoy what the show has to offer amid everything that has been happening.
Other cancellation rumor reports however are more optimistic about the entire changes in the show's cast and have attributed the falling ratings as a sign that fans are still adjusting to the show's new characters. Despite the drop in the show's ratings for its fourteenth season, the series still remains to be one of the most watched shows on television.
The reports are also adamant that the show will still continue on even without Michael Weatherly's Tony DiNozzo. It still continues to rake it more than 10 million viewers for each episode.
The latest episode for "NCIS" Season 14, episode 11 titled "Willoughby," is schedule to air on Jan. 3, 2017 on CBS.
