The Porsche Design Group is already seen pumping new watches, headphones, and more for the tech market. The company owned by the same parent company as automaker Porsche AG launched its new first and most unique design laptop in MWC-2017 this year. Reports claim that the Porsche Design Book One is a 2-in-1 laptop designed by Porsche in Germany and manufactured by Quanta Computer in Taiwan.
The Porsche Design Book One laptop has high-end characteristics with its magnificently designed body and performance base keyboard, laptop hinge-an inspiration taken from the automotive gears. The device has a brushed-aluminum shell and chiseled corners. Also, it built extremely thin measuring to 15.9mm (0.63 inches). Along with automotive inspired 360-degrees hinge, the sides of the display can be seen with radiator-like ventilation grilles.
It is the first laptop to feature both 360-degree hinge and a detachable display. The Porsche design Book One sports a touch QHD display of 13.5 inch glossy IPS screen, protected by Gorilla Glass 4 having a sky-high resolution of 3200x1800 pixels. Under the hood, it is powered by a 7th generation Intel Kaby Lake Core i7 processor paired with 16GB of LPDDR3 RAM (at 1,866MHz) and 512GB SSD storage.
The laptop equipped with windows 10 Pro is claimed to be the best in class for the high-end performance. It features a 5MP front camera, backlit keyboard, precision touchpad and an infrared camera for enabling Windows Hello face authentication. The device also features two USB 3.0 ports, two USB-c ports and one of the USB-C ports and also supports Thunderbolt 3.
The Porsche Design Book One is equipped with a total of 70Wh of lithium polymer battery split into 25Wh in the display and 45Wh in the keyboard. Porsche claims that the device has a projected life of up to 14 hours on a single charge and also claims that the full battery unit can be charged within two hours.
The Porsche Design Book One is the real rival for the Microsoft Surface Book and has a price tag of $2495. The device will be available in the USA by April 2017. Stay tuned for more updates.
