NASA and Russia Might Explore Venus Together in a Special Mission

Space discoveries have been getting better day by day, especially with the recent finding of the seven planets in the TRAPPIST-1. NASA's contribution towards discoveries in space has been benchmarked in history, and it seems that they are not stopping to continue. NASA Scientists are now all set to meet with representatives from the Russian Academy of Sciences Space Research Institute.

The special mission will be called as the "Venera-D," where NASA and Russia will explore Venus together. Russia has already launched 16 space probes toward Venus as part of the Venera series. The Venera-D mission is said to launch sometime in 2020, the mission might include a solar powered airship that can fly through the upper atmosphere of the planet as per Space.

Along with this it will include an orbiter and lander to gather data from Venus, the collaboration of Russia and NASA is believed to bring great results from Venera-D. Scientists from NASA and Russian representatives will discuss objectives for the Venus exploration.

It appears that Venus and Earth share many similarities such as, proximity to the sun, size and composition. The temperature on the surface of Venus is hot enough to melt lead and the planet is even hotter than Mercury, even though the latter is closer to the sun.

NASA has also sent multiple probes to study Venus such as, the Mariner 2 orbiter. The space agency's last mission was Magellan, it was launched in 1990 and covered almost 98 percent of the planet's surface over four years.

Venus is known as the sister planet to Earth and there is much to learn from it, including the weather conditions. There are possibilities that it might have had oceans harbored life millions of years ago, while NASA and Russia explores Venus together in a special mission, The US space agencies "Curiosity Rover" still roams the Martian surface.
