Chris Evans who had been recently headlined that his contract is ending soon was said to be open to play Captain America once again. The actor was then reported to reveal that Robert Downey Jr., another Marvel Cinematic prominent body who plays Iron-Man is “closer” to the same fate as he is.
According to MTV, Chris Evans stated that the only reason his role as Captain America in the MCU is ending was because of his contract ending coming up. "After Avengers 4, my contract is done. With that said, in another interview with USA Today, the “Before We Go” actor hinted at Iron-Man’s departure. "Downey is far closer to reaching that point where he may walk away. And I don’t know how you replace Downey as Tony Stark," he stated. The “Gifted” actor then added that he doesn’t know who could play Stark better than Downey.
Yet, no confirmation had been made from the “Iron-Man” star. It was unknown then whether is Evans talking about Iron Man’s role in the MCU. Hence, speculation include the rumor that Stark would play a Nick Fury role behind the scenes and not be taking part in too much action.
The interview then revealed that seeing someone play as Captain America is “really hard” for Chris Evans. He then resolve to state that “Nothing lasts forever.” “The Losers” actor then added that if Marvel still wants him after the back to back “Avengers: Infinity War,” the decision is still up to them but he will still be “endlessly” thankful.
