Jude Law will find himself in a new role as he is set to play young Albus Dumbledore in an upcoming "Fantastic Beast" movie. If this is the case, the actor will be swapping his Young Pope cassock for another robe.
In the latest reports, Jude Law will be playing Albus Dumbledore in the next "Fantastic Beasts" movie. This next film will be the sequel to the first titled, "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them." It was Warner Bros which announced last Wednesday as per Variety.
The writer or the author behind this film is J.K Rowling who also penned the first "Fantastic Beasts" movie. It has been known that these films and stories are set before the Harry Potter movies. With this, the young Dumbledore will be played by Jude Law and what will be presented is his life before the said character took the role of headmaster. The author then shared that these new movies will feature a troubled life of Albus Dumbledore.
Apart from exploring his character, other elements and factors that are surrounding Jude Law's character will also be presented. Albus Dumbledore's relationship with Gellert Grindelwald played by Johnny Depp will also be featured. It can be recalled that in the ending of the first "Fantastic Beasts," Grindelwald might face his former friend Dumbledore in a wizard war and it has been revealed that it will be played by Depp.
The renowned author J.K. Rowling also mentioned before that Albus Dumbledore has a secret feeling for his friend calling this love a great tragedy. If Law plays this character, he will become the third actor to play the said role. In the "Harry Potter" films, it was Richard Harris who played the character but he was replaced by Michael Gambon after his death last 2002.
Lastly, it has been reported that the next "Fantastic Beasts" film will be released on Nov. 16, 2018. This is the second of the planned five installments of the said movie which includes Jude Law as the young Albus Dumbledore.
