Justin Bieber has been arrested in Miami Beach, Fla. for driving under the influence (DUI) and resisting arrest. The news was confirmed by Miami Beach Police on their Twitter page. The 19-year-old singer was stopped by police during the early hours of the morning on Thursday (Jan. 23).
According to TMZ, police said Bieber was drunk, resisted arrest and swore at the officers. He was also arrested for drag racing - his friends reportedly blocked the street so the singer could race - and his license had expired.
In a press conference, police said they believe Bieber was under the influence of alcohol and drugs including marijuana and an anti-depressant. In the police report obtained by TMZ, Miami Beach cops said they approached the yellow Lamborghini the "Boyfriend" singer was driving and they instantly smelled alcohol.
Reportedly he was defiant from the very beginning cursing at the officer who pulled him over. When the officer tried to do a pat down, the singer reportedly yelled "I aint got no weapons, why do you have to search me? What the f**k is this about?"
Bieber told the police he was not drunk and had just left a recording session at the studio. However, there are reports claiming that he was photographed at a club in Miami shortly before the arrest. The pop star also had a female passenger identified as 19-year-old model Chantel Jeffires.
The other person Bieber was drag racing with was also arrested and was identified as Def Jam Records rapper Khalil. The rapper was driving Bieber's red Ferrari. Police said the "Baby" singer was going at least 50 MPH in a 30 MPH residential area and is still in custody.
At the scene before the singer was arrested police gave him a field sobriety test, which he failed. Bieber will be taken to a county jail where he will be booked and processed a bail will be set.
