According to reports, Korean actress Kim Soo Hyun has been cast in "Avengers: Age of Ultron." The news was first reported by the website KDrama Stars. According to the site, "a staff member" who was involved in the casting process said Hyun "is to star as a partner of Iron Man Tony Stark, played by Robert Downey Jr., as a doctor."
The staff member went on to say that Hyun would have several big scenes "in the middle of the movie." However, other sites claim that the actress was cast to play a villain. Kpop Starz reports that Hyun was reportedly chosen over 40 other actresses who auditioned for the role of a villain.
Director Joss Whedon reportedly went to Korea, where according to rumors scenes from "Avengers" will be filmed, for the final round of casting. Marvel has not responded to this casting rumor.
There were also rumors at the beginning of January when Radar Online reported that Robert Downey Jr. was pushing for his Hollywood pals Jodie Foster and Mel Gibson to land roles in the movie.
"Robert is raising eyebrows with his efforts on behalf of his longtime best pals Jodie Foster and Mel Gibson," the source told Radar. "He wants to bring Mel and Jodie into the Marvel universe, preferably in one of the 'Avengers' films. It's been a longtime dream of Robert's to help Mel and Jodie reach similar big box office heights like the one's he achieved in recent years."
The 48-year-old actor is said to have helped actress Gwyneth Paltrow land a role in "Avengers." Ashley Hamilton and "Iron Man 3" director Shane Black have also said that Downey helped get them hired.
"Avengers: Age of Ultron" will be released May 1, 2015.
