The news that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have given their children the titles 'Prince' and 'Princess' has revived hopes for a reconciliation between the royal families.

The changes, disclosed on Wednesday after the couple's staff verified Lilibet was christened at their California home last week, might be a positive step for the family, according to experts. It has even prompted expectations that the Sussexes may attend the coronation of King Charles in May.

Archie, Lilibet Given Royal Titles of Prince And Princess

On Friday, a spokesman for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said that their 21-month-old daughter Lilibet was named "Princess Lilibet Diana" in a private ceremony at their house in Montecito. The King was told of their intentions to utilize the titles before the announcement. After a title dispute, the royals confirm that Archie and Lilibet are now prince and princess, as per Mirror.

According to sources, the King, Queen Consort Camilla, Prince William, and Kate Middleton were all invited but did not attend the baptism. Their absence was more due to logistical issues than a deliberate snub. The source said that the couple's first-born child, Archie, was officially referred to as a 'Prince,' while the royal family's website still refers to them as "Master Archie" and "Miss Lilibet."

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's attendance at the coronation on May 6 has not yet been confirmed. The situation is further complicated because the ceremony will occur on Archie's fourth birthday.

According to The Sun, it is believed that Prince Harry and King Charles decided to give the Duke's children royal titles during conversations following the Queen's burial. After discussions late last year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's children will henceforth be called Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

A spokesperson for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry confirmed that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on March 3 by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev. John Taylor. This was the first time in public that Lili was considered a princess.

It is expected that the 21-month-old would use the title in official situations rather than in regular discourse. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are rumored to be adamant about not denying their children their birthright but allowing them to relinquish or retain their titles as they grow older.

As the offspring of a son of a sovereign, Archie and Lili are immediately prince and princess and may now use the HRH style if they so choose. When Archie was born in May of 2019, he was seventh in line for the throne, which placed him too far down the succession line.

While he was a great-grandchild of the monarch, he was not the eldest son of a future king and hence was not automatically a prince. The royal website, which presently displays the children as Master Archie and Miss Lilibet, will be altered to reflect the change, according to Buckingham Palace.

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle's Attendance on King Charles' Coronation

The controversial couple was invited to the historic occasion in May, but their accommodations still need to be discovered after they were evicted from their Windsor, Berkshire home, Frogmore Cottage. The couple has yet to be granted a new permanent residence, but they are believed to be provided with temporary housing when they return to the United Kingdom.

These may include suites at Buckingham Palace, St. James's Palace, and Princess Diana's old Kensington Palace residence. Apart from such excursions, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will raise their two children at their nine-bedroom property in Montecito, California.

An expert has asserted that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to refer to their children as Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet is an "expected" gesture demonstrating their "priceless" link to the British royal family, despite the Sussexes' previous attacks on the monarchy.

Tessa Dunlop, a royal historian, stated that the couple's choice to use Archie and Lilibet's titles is unsurprising, given that a representative for the Sussexes today referred to their youngest child for the first time as "Princess Lilibet."

She stated that despite Prince Harry's blistering assaults on the royal family in his $100 million Netflix docuseries and explosive book, Spare, the Duke's choice proves he remains a monarchist.

Although Prince Harry, 38, has launched several attacks against the Royal Family in recent months, he has maintained his support for the monarchy, as per Daily Mail.
