- Jonathan Majors's attorneys asserted that new surveillance footage exonerates their client
- Footage shows officers "coaching" Grace Jabbari
- It also proves that the victim of the alleged assault was uninjured
In a court-submitted letter, Jonathan Majors' attorney asserts that video evidence proves the actor's "complete innocence."
A woman has accused Majors of assaulting her on March 25, causing her to sustain a fractured finger and other minor injuries. However, according to Majors, the woman assaulted him.
Jonathan Majors' Domestic Violence Allegations
The letter to the court, submitted by Majors' attorney Priya Chaudhry, stated that the woman "went clubbing, got drunk, sent Mr. Majors angry text messages accusing him of infidelity, sent a suicide note to Mr. Majors, took a bunch of sleeping pills, and then, eleven hours later, was found alone in a locked bedroom, unconscious on the floor of a closet, with a cut behind her ear and a broken finger."
Chaudhry also submitted security footage screenshots that, according to her, show the woman using the purportedly fractured finger while out at a bar. Per Fox News, the attorney stated she is "hopeful" the district attorney's office will discharge the "false charges" after evaluating the submitted security footage and other evidence.
After the domestic dispute last month, the actor was detained and charged with multiple counts of assault and harassment by the Manhattan district attorney. The initial judicial appearance of Majors is scheduled for May 8. Grace Jabbari, now Majors' ex-girlfriend, stated in a criminal complaint that the altercation left her with a laceration behind her ear and an injured right hand.
The 33-year-old Marvel star was detained and charged with misdemeanor assault and harassment, charges that Chaudhry demanded the District Attorney of the Big Apple dismiss on Thursday.
According to Daily Mai, Chaudhry cited snippets of Jabbari clubbing and socializing after she claimed to have been assaulted. She also noted first-responder bodycam footage, which she claims shows officers 'guiding' the woman through her alleged assault account.
The filing then presented multiple screenshots of the alleged video evidence cited by the attorney, which she claimed had already been submitted for review to the DA's office. Several images are taken from footage captured at Loosie's Nightclub on the Lower East Side between 1:55 a.m. and 3:06 a.m. on March 25 - shortly after Majors allegedly assaulted Jabbari during a cab journey to his Chelsea residence.
Jabbari appears to be using two hands at the establishment's bar as she combs through credit cards and nonchalantly signs a receipt, as captured in the screengrabs. Another image depicts her celebrating near the host stand of the congested nightclub, again using both hands.
Footage Shows Accuser Uninjured After The Alleged Incident
One image captured in an unremarkable elevator car shows the uninjured accuser adjusting her hair at 3:25 a.m. She claimed Majors seized and wounded her earlier in the evening. After a night of partying, Majors' ex allegedly sent a suicide note to the actor, took several sleeping drugs, and eleven hours later was discovered alone in a locked bedroom with a cut behind her ear and a fractured finger by Majors.
She added that the taxi driver was willing to vouch for these claims, stating that he witnessed Jabbari hitting, scratching, and assaulting the actor before being ordered to pull over. She claimed that Jabbari attacked the celebrity after she accused him of infidelity. After a night of partying, she sent a suicide note to the actor, took several sleeping tablets, and eleven hours later was discovered alone in a locked bedroom with a cut behind her ear and a fractured finger by Majors.
While Majors is presumed innocent until proven guilty, the statement continued, "Prudence dictates that we pull our ads until the investigation into these allegations is complete."
Chaudhry is a prominent criminal trial attorney who successfully defended Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jen Shah against wire fraud charges, to which she pled guilty in February. She continues to ardently contradict her client's accusations ardently, maintaining his innocence.
Despite refuting the allegations, as per The Independent, the actor's collaborators have severed connections with him after his arrest. Majors made his screen début in the 2017 ABC miniseries 'When We Rise' and joined the Marvel universe six years later when he portrayed Kang the Conqueror in 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.' He was most recently seen in 'Creed III.'
