Bud Light Executives Take Leave of Absence Amid Dylan Mulvaney Campaign Backlash

But sources say the leave "wasn't voluntary."

Two Bud Light executives reportedly took a leave of absence after the collaboration with the transgender TikTok influencer Dyan Mulvaney triggered a widespread backlash from the conservatives.

Since the campaign with Mulvaney, the shares of the beverage maker Anheuser-Busch have taken a hit. Not to mention the sales of Bud Light beer saw a striking plunge as well.

While others supported the collaboration, anti-trans folks were unimpressed over the marketing campaign, prompting them to kickstart a widespread boycott.

Bud Light Executives Take Leave of Absence

According to CBS News, Anheuser-Busch reportedly told the Wall Street Journal that two top brass of the beverage maker took their leave of absence. These executives reportedly spearheaded the marketing campaign with the famous TikTok trans, Mulvaney.

One of the executives who took a break is the vice president for marketing of Bud Light, Alissa Heinerscheid. The spokesperson of Anheuser-Busch revealed, "Alissa has decided to take a leave of absence with our support" amid the widespread backlash over the campaign that she supervised.

CNN reports that the vice president of Budweiser for global marketing, Todd Allen, will reportedly take her place as Heinerscheid goes on leave.

Besides the VP for marketing of Bud Light, CBS News notes that her direct boss, the vice president for marketing of the Budweiser group, Daniel Blake, also took a leave of absence from his top role in the company.

As per the Anheuser-Busch spokesperson, "Daniel has also decided to take a leave of absence."

Although the spokesperson of the beverage maker says that the two executives took their leave of absence, the Wall Street Journal says it "wasn't voluntary."

The Journal reports that anonymous sources close to the situation disclosed that the company put the two executives on leave. The decision was apparently not "voluntary" in the first place -this is what the sources of the publication claim.

Bud Light and Dylan Mulvaney Beer Can Campaign

The latest shakeup in the leadership of Anheuser-Busch comes after the Bud Light campaign with transgender influencer Mulvaney saw mixed reactions.

It made right-wing conservatives furious, triggering them to boycott the beer brand. The New York Post notes that the latest data shows that the sales of Bud Light significantly dropped by around 17%.

Mulvaney is widely known for her TikTok series, which follows her journey to "girlhood." She now has roughly 10.8 million followers on the ByteDance-owned social network.

In collaboration with Bud Light, she posted two sponsored posts in partnership with the brand. One of her posts featured a commemorative beer can with her face on it to celebrate "girlhood."

Anheuser-Busch states that "this commemorative can was a gift to celebrate a personal milestone and is not for sale to the general public.
