Xbox Series S carbon black version with a beefy 1TB storage is coming our way.
Microsoft announced that the new Xbox sees the light of day on September 1.
Xbox Series S 1TB Black Version
According to Engadget, Xbox Game Studios Chief Executive Officer Phil Spencer confirmed the new Xbox Series S version during the Summer Game Fest event.
The compact and more affordable Xbox console, the Series S, sure is tempting to buy due to its low price tag and impressive power. After all, it runs on the same custom AMD Zen 2 CPU and RDNA 2 GPU as the Series X. However, it is worth noting that it offers slightly lower performance since it features a smaller GPU and lower clock speeds. But despite that, it still plays most games pretty well.
However, the Series S is notorious for its storage limitation. As per The Verge, the console debuted with a $299 price tag, but the storage only goes as high as 512GB. Not to mention some gamers are clamoring for the sleek black option similar to its more expensive sibling, the Series X.
But this time, the Xbox boss announced that the new Xbox Series S finally gets upgraded storage. With most games requiring roughly 100GB to install, the upcoming version addresses the dilemma wherein users must delete some titles to download new ones.
New Xbox: What to Expect
Xbox Senior Marketing Manager Bree Adams notes that the new carbon black color option offers "the same sleek, modern matte finish" the Xbox Series X flaunts.
He further stresses that the upcoming version "features the same next-gen speed and performance" of the 512GB offering. Yet, it lets users download more of their favorite games. So it still features the same AMD Ryzen Zen 2 processor and 10GB GDDR6 memory.
Despite that storage bump, the Series S still skips on the disc drive, requiring users to download their gaming titles. Microsoft has opened the pre-orders for the Carbon Black look, which comes with 1TB of internal storage, allowing games to place their orders as early as now. However, they could only get their hands on it starting September 1, 2023, according to XDA Developers.
With beefier storage, the Remond-based giant bumped up the pricing of its new Series S console, starting at nearly $350. In other words, the upcoming Xbox Series S offers three things: a sleek black look, beefier storage, and the same console performance.
