Twitter has suspended the accounts of PlainSite and its founder Aaron Greenspan, a prominent critic of Tesla and billionaire Elon Musk.
Two accounts linked to the PlainSite founder, who fondly criticizes Musk, are now unavailable on the social network.
Twitter Suspends Tesla, Elon Musk Critic's Accounts
Twitter has thrown down the hammer and suspended the accounts of Aaron Greenspan, the notorious critic of Tesla, and its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Musk. As per a report by CNBC, Greenspan is the founder of PlainSite, an online database that makes legal documents and court records available to the public eye free of charge.
Besides founding PlainSite, Greenspan is widely known as a staunch critic of Tesla and Musk for years and has used PlainSite to track lawsuits against the companies. The firms include the billionaire's giant social network and his automaker.
But the site also exposes other companies in the United States, such as General Motors (GM) and the Facebook and Instagram parent WhatsApp, among other firms. The Musk critic, Greenspan, told Barron's he had no idea why his accounts had been suspended. He says, "I do not know what I did."
The Twitter accounts of PlainSite, @plainsite, and its founder Greenspan who goes by @aarongreenspan are now suspended on the Musk-owned service since Tuesday afternoon. As of writing, the two accounts linked to the Tesla critics are still inaccessible.
CNBC reports that Greenspan has already reached out to Twitter for the reinstatement of his two accounts. The PlainSite founder notes that the social network did not explain why they were taken down.
The tweets of two accounts linked to the PlainSite founder are currently unavailable. Instead, the profile only says that the account has been suspended. The social network further notes that it "suspends accounts that violate the Twitter Rules."
Elon Musk and Critics
Barron's emphasized that Twitter could suspend accounts for sharing personal information. But it is worth mentioning that several activities could lead to such action. For instance, Twitter took down an account that tracked the private jet of Musk for sharing the whereabouts of the billionaire, NBC reports. Until now, the @ElonJet remains suspended.
Before acquiring Twitter, Musk tweeted, "I hope that even my worst critics remain on Twitter." He notes that it is "what free speech means."
The billionaire entrepreneur recently confirmed that he is stepping down as the chief executive of Twitter. The former NBCUniversal global advertising chief Linda Yaccarino replaced him. However, he remains the social network's executive chairman and Chief Technology Officer.
Musk is also the CEO of tech giants Tesla and SpaceX, besides leading Twitter.
