The tech company's newest Galaxy phone will hit stores on April 11. If you're looking into purchasing a new smartphone with Android technology, check out the list below for everything you need to know about the Galaxy S5.
1. SPECS
The most important aspect when considering purchasing a new phone is the specs. If your phone's hardware isn't running on high quality, then its not worth your money. According to CNET, the Galaxy S5 has a "2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 chipset for a start, a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera (up from 13 megapixels), and a 2-megapixel sensor on the front." The Galaxy S5 also promises 21 hours of talk time for its battery and "16 days of standby time on a single charge."
2. STORAGE/WIFI
The Galaxy S5 is available in 16GB and 32GB storage options, but can support 128GB with an SD card. According to CNET, the phone will combine its Wi-Fi and LTE capabilities to off an upwards of 600-650Mbps.
3. SCREEN SIZE/COLOR
"The Galaxy S5 measures 142mm by 72.5mm by 8.1mm -- or 5.59 inches tall by 2.85 inches wide by 0.32-inch deep -- and weighs 145 grams, or 5.1 ounces. It's taller and heavier than the Galaxy S4 as a result of its extra hardware," CNET reports.
The smartphone will come in white, antique gold, blue and black.
4. NEW FEATURES
The Galaxy S5 has a fingerprint scanner that allows users the option to lock their phone. The new smartphone also allows the use of the scanner to authorize PayPal payments. According to Digital Spy, the phone will also come with a built-in heart rate monitor.
5. WHERE TO PURCHASE
The Samsung Galaxy S5 will be available for all major carriers, from T-Mobile to AT & T. Samsung has not confirmed a price for its newest smartphone.
