John Travolta Apologizes For Butchering Idina Menzel's Name During Oscars 2014 By Quoting 'Let It Go'

John Travolta's mispronunciation of Idina Menzel's name during the 86th Academy Awards became an Internet sensation, prompting the creation of memes, jokes and a name generator. Though the actor may have be hard on himself for his nationally televised mistake, he decided to take the advice of the hit "Frozen" song and "Let It Go."

During the Oscars 2014, Travolta pronounced Menzel' name as "Adele Dazeem" while introducing her performance of "Let It Go." Those watching the award show couldn't help but comment on the actor's mistake and left many confused as to why he didn't know how to pronounce her name.

"He knew how to say her name," a source told E! News. "No one knows what happened. Maybe nerves just got the best of him."

Travolta has since released a statement to the Associated Press on Tuesday apologizing for his Oscar flub and took the time to compliment Menzel and congratulated "Frozen" for their big Academy Award wins.

"I've been beating myself up all day," the actor said. "Then I thought ... what would Idina Menzel say? She'd say, 'Let it go, let it go!' Idina is incredibly talented and I am so happy Frozen took home two Oscars Sunday night!"

The hit Disney flick"Frozen" ended won the Oscars for best animated film and best original song. "Frozen" was just one of many big winners during the 86th Academy Awards included Lupita Nyong'o for best supporting actress, Jared Leto for best supporting actor, Cate Blanchett for best actress, Matthew McConaughey for best actor and "12 Years A Slave" for best picture.

Thought Travolta may have apologized for messing up Menzel's name, the "Adele Dazeem" parody Twitter accounts and name generators live on. Curious as to how Travolta would pronounce your name at the Oscars? Click here to "Travolify" your name!
