A Florida man accused of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend allegedly drove her body to the Florida City police station to surrender.

Alexander Roque, 48, was arrested and booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County Saturday night on a charge of second-degree murder, according to jail records.

Detectives with the Florida City Police Department told WTVJ that Roque allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend before transporting her body to the station on Saturday and turning himself in. Florida City is in southern Miami-Dade, south of Homestead.

The investigation was turned over to Miami-Dade Police.

The victim has not been publicly identified, and police did not reveal what may have led up to the killing.
